Use of the site
Use it to choose a name, for yourself or with someone else. Please do not scrape it or hit it with automated traffic beyond ordinary browsing — the underlying data is public and free to download from the SSA, so there is nothing here worth taking from us rather than from the source. Do not try to disrupt the service for other people.
Data accuracy
Every figure is computed from the U.S. Social Security Administration's public files as published, 1880–2025. Names given to fewer than five children in a year are absent from those files, so the data is not complete and a chart can show gaps. We do not estimate, forecast or adjust. We believe the computation is right and we will fix it if you show us otherwise, but the numbers come with no guarantee.
Share links
The names in a link are yours. Because they travel in the part of the URL that never reaches a server, we never hold them — which also means we cannot revoke a link, or recover one you have lost. Anyone holding the link can open it.
Content and ownership
The name data is public and belongs to no one. The design of this site, its text, its charts and the way its lists are compiled are ours. Quote a figure, link to a page, tell someone about it — all fine. Republishing the pages or the compiled lists as your own is not.
Advertising
There is no advertising on the site today. When it is added, ads will be served by a third party, we will not be endorsing what they show, and the privacy policy will say what that means for your data.
No warranty, limitation of liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. Choosing a name is your decision; a rank on this page is a count of births, not advice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and that date is the record. Continuing to use the site after a change means the new terms apply.
